Tonight’s blog is only a small one due to its writer being exhausted and taking on more work than she can physically handle. It’s fantastic that I have so much work, but I need to find the ideal life work balance. I shall be spending the morning with the wonderful Heather Bestel (of www.HeatherBestel.com fame) whose calm soothing tones will have me relaxing in no time, as we drive to our local sewing/social group that we attend.
This would be a great time to offer a tip to those of you that work from home. Have you ever noticed how people are always dropping in for coffee when you work from home, They don’t mean to distract you but they think you’re in so why not pop by, and out of politeness we make them a cuppa, but deep down we would really like them to leave so we can get on, because this isn’t a hobby, this is our business.
My friend Linda (a textile artist with a studio in our nearest town) had the perfect answer, she started a coffee morning for her friends on a Thursday (as she found this to be her quietest time of the week) with the understanding that they had to bring some sewing to do. Now she has a lovely social life, chatting while sewing on a Thursday 10.30 till 12 and gets to work the rest of the week in peace. If you give your friend boundaries they will respect them and you will enjoy seeing them more because you have been able to work without distraction and have achieved more and can now reward yourself with time with your friends.

What a great approach to seeing your friends AND getting things done. Love it.
Isn’t it Lovely Nancy. It can be so easy to take our friends forgranted, but when you have visit days you chreish them so much more for the time they are there.
I love the idea of adding a productive activity to the friend gathering. I wish I lived near your friend! :-)
Hi Teddi, It’s a really great idea of hers. Maybe you could start one near you xx
