I received a funny email from my dad tonight about using the wrong word in a sentence. This reminded my Husband and I of funny things out son had come out with.
When he was very young I asked him what a baby cow was called and he replied ‘a calf’ then I asked if he knew what a baby horse was called, he thought a while before replying ‘a half’ I thought this was very clever.
On watching Harry potter a few years ago Alex had been tying to tell his Granny about it, when he turned to me and said ‘Mummy do remember when Harry potter fell of his rock?’ ‘Fell of his rock’, I questioned. ‘Yes fell off his stone’. It was then it hit me what he was trying to say. Harry potter and the philosophers’ stone.
Last Christmas I had been in the kitchen making batches of jam for Christmas presents and Alexander was playing in his room with a friend, when they came down to ask for a snack. Alex’s friend asked what I was doing and Alex proudly announced they were for Christmas pampers. He was mortified when I’d recovered enough from laughing to explain the word was Hampers and not a brand of nappies (diapers).
His latest comment was while having breakfast, Alexander asked if we were still giving Bob (a calf) chloroform. ‘Chloroform’ I queried ‘why on earth would we want to give calf chloroform?’ you know Mum, that milk stuff. The word he was looking for was colostrum.
Its little moments of like those that still make me laugh
