Having discovered a passion for photography last year, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a decent camera for Christmas. I bought it at the end of November, but being a traditionalist (spoil sport) Mark put it away until Christmas. I was so excited to be opening it on Christmas Day, but very soon became despondent with it when I realised I didn’t know how to use it properly. I wanted to be able to take amazing photos instantly (as is my need to know now personality). Using it on Auto was ok but I wanted to be able to distort backgrounds and be more artistic. So I have just registered with Open University to do a 10 week digital photography course. I hope this will give me a better understanding of what I’m doing and why, and how to get the desired results.

Here are some photos I experimented with a few weeks ago at Clatterinshaws dam

I have a long way still to go, especially as my Brother-in-law has asked me to do the photography for his wedding in June. I really hope he likes blurry and abstract, with just a hint of movement!
