These are the people in my life that I don’t tell them how much I love them, how blessed I am to have them and how I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them, and why is that I ask myself. Probably because they already know, but that’s no excuse. So, to my Dad, Mum and step Dad, Thank you for all the above, for helping me become the person I am today, and for supporting me in all that I do.

This is a picture of my Dad and I 35 years ago

and this is a picture of him now. He hasn’t changed a bit

Due to the privileged life fate had laid out for me I was bought up by my Dad from the age of 2. From nappies to wedding speeches he’s been my Jiminy cricket.

I love this modelling photo of my Mum, such classical elegance and poise.

This is Mum and (step) Dad G now.

Ok so there a little change between now and then, but Mum is still very beautiful and doesn’t look her age (## years old) oh and you’re still beautiful too Dad G (just in case you’re reading this, and if you’re not, why not?)

I spent holidays with Mum until I was 17, then moved to Scotland to be near her (and fell in love with Scotland and stayed) Now I see Dad in the holidays, though we speak several times a week. Mum is my mind reader and confidence builder; she can make me believe there’s nothing I can’t do. I maybe don’t chat with her as much as my dad, but that’s because he’s a man and needs to be told things , where as my mum can look at me and see into my soul and know everything there is to know.

Their lives are dedicated to their children’s wellbeing, no job to big, no cry for help unanswered, Like mountains they stand quietly in the background, strong against the elements, of emotions and tempers and still there when the weather has calmed. (I can hear my Mum now, shouting “Gordon have you seen this, she’s calling me a mountain”. “Do I look like a piece of stone to you” (Dad G gives her that look) “Ok don’t answer that”

For as long as I live I can never repay them for all they have done and especially for my wedding last year. This was such a momentous occasion for me which is probably why I keep referring to it. My Mum spent so much of day in the background making sure everything ran smoothly that we didn’t get one photo of just the two of us, so we had a separate wedding shoot when I got back from honeymoon.
